Ich habe mich vor 10 Jahren selbst um eine Genealogie bemüht, bin aber nicht weit gekommen - außer der Tatsache, dass meine unmittelbaren Vorfahren alle aus der Jülicher Gegend stammen (meist aus dem kleinen Ort Welz). Kurze Info zu mir selbst habe ich Ihnen gerade auf der entsprechenden website gegeben.

Sharon Shunk hat Recht. Die Schuncks (mit und ohne ck - warum eigentlich?) sind überall. Im New Yorker Telefonbuch gibt es fast eine Seite von ihnen (sie buchstabieren sich genau so wie wir), und auch noch in San Francisco über ein halbes Dutzend).

Ich würde gerne mit Ihnen in Kontakt bleiben, um mehr zu erfahren.
Vielleicht haben Sie auch konkrete Fragen an mich. Vielleicht können wir uns auch einmal treffen, weil meine Mutter noch in der Jülicher Gegend lebt.

Zwar bin ich in Polleben (Sachsen) geboren, allerdings während der Evakuierung meiner Eltern am Ende des 2. Weltkrieges. Meine Eltern stammen in der Tat aus der Jülicher Gegend, wo ich auch aufgewachsen bin.

Schule: Gymnasium Alsdorf, dann Uni Bonn, USA-Studium (Washington State, San Francisco State), B.A. USA, Promotion Bonn, jetzt Hochschullehrer Uni Bochum (Anglistik)

Sharon Shunk is right. The Schuncks (with and without ck - why actually?) are everywhere. In the New York phone book there is almost one page of them, they spell themselves exactly like us, and also in San Francisco over a half a dozen.

True I was born in Polleben (Saxonia), but that was when my parents were evacuated at the end of WW II. Our origine is the Jülich area indeed, ans I grew up there as well.
