B arbes is a part of Africa in the heart of Paris at the foot of Montmartre. The 13 musicians of the Orchestre de Barbes whose parents came from Morocco and Algeria live in this quarter. The Orchestre is regarded as one of the hottest discoveries of North African music in France. The sons of the North African immigrants combine the traditional music of their original home (Chaabi, Gnawa and music of the Kabyls) with modern dancefloor rhythms, pulsating reggae and rock power. The live concerts of O.N.B. impress with musical variety and have fired every audience so far. Orchestre National de Barbes
